I just came home from the local premiere of the new Indiana Jones (the original English version without subtitles). It’s been my first time to the cinema in quite a while (I actually wanted to see Iron Man but somehow ended up not) but luckily I wasn’t disappointed. After the usual 20 minutes of commercials and trailers (Kung Fu Panda, Hancock, The Incredible Hulk, The Mummy 3, Narnia 2…) the movie started rather “quiet”, it even took the audience a short while to realize it did. But of course soon enough the roller coaster ride Indiana Jones fans are used to began and it didn’t stop until the very end. While the plot is somewhat stupid and there are annoying moments I can’t mention without spoiling (although I can say there was a stupid Tarzan reference) I enjoyed the movie very much. It feels like some kind of weird mixture between Raiders of the Lost Ark and Tomb Raider, filled up with a lot of references to other movies, 50s pop culture clichés and the Indiana Jones heritage. Don’t worry, it’s better than that sounds, although I felt they underused the classic tunes and would have been wiser to cast someone else than Cate Blanchett. But that’s probably just my personal dislike of her…
Overall I clearly recommend it as it’s one of those movies best enjoyed on the big screen and just plain fun, but don’t expect anything else than a popcorn flick. And be prepared for a rather dull plot twist that just doesn’t go well with the whole Indiana Jones universe.

I stumbled upon a training video for the Microsoft sales team about promoting the MS-DOS 5 Upgrade which is so silly you won’t believe it until you watch it. Trust me on this, it’s even better than those old video game commercials.

Well, apparently, the Chinese can top that easily
I’ve seen a lot of Super Mario tune variants but this one is easily the most obscure of them. (via praegnanz.de)

Everyone Everyone besides my mother likes Star Wars. You’ve probably seen the movies several times, haven’t you? But I bet this version will be something new for you too!
Open up a command prompt in Windows (cmd in the execute/ausführen field) and enter the following command
telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl
what is it? It’s the original Star Wars as animated text! What an amazing achievement, I don’t even want to think about how much time that guy spend on creating it

Spiegel.de is hosting a gallery of “the most abominable movie posters of all time”. While it only features German posters and does include some dubious choices it’s still a whole lot of fun to browse through all of them. There are 35 online but be warned that some of them are definitely not work-friendly.

Well, as I was actually crazy enough to stay up and watch Super Bowl XLII why not post the result too? The game just ended with the most thrilling final minutes in years. With a surprisingly strong performance the Giants won 17-14 against the huge favorite, the Patriots. To be honest I was hoping they could perform the miracle of beating the Patriots which didn’t lose a single game yet this season. I don’t particularly like the Patriots, they’re a little like Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga (only a little though) and the Giants also have a half-german player in their line-up.

Remember this post?
Well if you do you know I had my first oral exam for my Vor-Diplom today. Of course all of you were wishing me luck one hour ago, right? If you did you might be pleased to know that it helped. Actually it went really well and to my surprise I left the room with a “sehr gut – (1,3)” which, for my international readers, equals an A-. At least I think it does, but how should I know? I’ve never been to the U.S. … contrary to a certain reader of this blog :p
